Within weeks of making his Premier League debut for Liverpool, Dominik Szoboszlai was earning comparisons to club legend Steven Gerrard.
The 23-year-old failed to maintain those extremely high standards, though, before suffering injuries that restricted his game time in the early months of 2024. When he did return, he found it hard to regain his form.
Hungary have lost both of their Group A fixtures with Szoboszlai struggling to make an impact so far. He knows that nothing less than a win against Scotland will be enough to keep their hopes of the last 16 alive.
Standing in his way will be Aston Villa’s John McGinn. The midfielder has scored 18 goals in his 67 caps and Scotland will be looking for him to deliver tonight with both teams aiming for their first win of the tournament.
